Halifax Opportunities Trust is a large, local social enterprise and a charity with a broad portfolio of activities so people, families in Calderdale can thrive. This role is ideal for people who have experience of working in nursery environment.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience in general cleaning (required)
  • Basic food and snack preparation (preferred)
  • Confident working with children aged 0-5

About the Role

Your duties will include cleaning, laundry and cover for the kitchen. This includes supporting the nursery staff with general cleaning responsibilities including removal of refuse, washing, vacuuming, polishing and dusting, cleaning windows and floors in all designated areas. Kitchen duties will include light preparation and serving of food, washing and drying of crockery, cutlery and equipment. Preparation, care, and high standard of cleanliness and maintenance is imperative within the setting.

Job Overview:

You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards within the nursery, kitchen and designated areas

Responsibility and Duties:
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties, including removal of refuse, washing, vacuuming, polishing and dusting all items of furniture, equipment, windows and floors in all designated areas
  • Deep cleaning of designated areas when required, including sterilization of toys and equipment
  • General tidying and cleaning of some outside areas
  • Laundry duties
  • Maintenance of hygiene in communal areas, e.g. toilets/bathrooms
  • Kitchen duties, including light preparation and serving of food, washing and drying of crockery, cutlery and equipment
  • To understand Health & Safety issues, and to act appropriately should areas of concern arise, in line with the organsiations Health & Safety policy and procedures
  • To comply with COSHH regulations and risk assessments
  • Establish and develop collaborative relationships within organisation
  • Establish and develop collaborative partnerships outside the organisation that support Halifax Opportunities Trust brands, images and values
  • Delegated responsibility for the security of the nursery and their contents.
  • The care and maintenance of equipment and resources needed to carry out the duties of the post.
  • Delegated responsibility for the security of buildings with many include the locking and opening of the entrance doors, outside normal working hours as requested
General Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for own personal and professional development, in line with agreed annual performance objectives
  • Attend and complete actions from regular supervision sessions with line manager
  • Adopt a creative and innovative approach towards practice by being open to opportunities for improvements, and encouraging staff to make suggestions
  • Attend regular staff meetings, training days and other training as required
  • Maintain up to date knowledge regarding legislation
  • Comply with Halifax Opportunities Trust policies and procedures including Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Data Protection
  • To undertake any other tasks and duties that may be reasonably requested by management

 

Experience and Knowledge:
