HOT Spotlight on a Cancer Champion

Meet Debbie, one of our Community Cancer Champions.

Debbie works at the heart of her community, supporting families through breastfeeding groups in Calderdale. Trained as a champion, she brings both expertise and empathy to her role—creating a safe, welcoming space for new parents. Alongside this, Debbie gently weaves in important conversations about cancer signs and symptoms.

Using a light-touch, supportive approach, she shares relevant information about self-examination while parents navigate their breastfeeding journey.

Debbie says: “This is really well received by our families, with some of them expressing that they would not have known about signs and symptoms if we hadn’t shared it with them.” By combining care, connection, and conversation, Debbie is helping families feel informed, supported, and empowered.

Proud to be working in partnership to promote health and well-being across our communities.
