Welcome to the latest in our regular series of interviews with the members of the business community based at Elsie Whitelely Innovation Centre. The Centre is home to over 35 small and medium sized businesses many of which have creative and digital backgrounds. Our first tenant profile for 2021 is with the super creative Steve Rowe, the man behind brand and design agency The Brand Arthouse.
Can you tell us a bit more about The Brand Arthouse?
The Brand Arthouse is a set in the heart of my hometown Halifax, it is a multidisciplinary brand and graphic design studio. Working together to deliver effective commercial changes in brands.
Specialising in branding, identities, packaging, digital design and art direction.
I base my method on building the right team for the right project. I’m able to do this from an immeasurable network of talent. By hand picking and building my team around a brief, it lets our collective imaginations to the rest.
What was your background before starting The Brand Arthouse?
I created The Brand Arthouse in 2019, after nearly 25 years working with the design industry, which has seen me apply my trade as a Creative Director and Design Director within client side and agencies in both Manchester and Leeds.
What drew you to choosing an office at Elsie Whitelely Innovation Centre?
The aesthetics, the space, the environment and the history were all key factors for me. Over the past year, it’s been so important to appreciate all these factors and still be able to work within my own studio. I’m really looking forward to seeing other businesses within EW come back this year.
What are your big plans for 2021?
Last year was my first full year of trading and despite the global events, I was extremely grateful to be able to collaborate with amazing agile clients and other like-minded creatives to make it a positive year for TBA.
I see 2021 all about focusing on key sectors and areas I feel TBA has permission to play in, this mainly being the food and drink sector. With my years of experience within this area, I’m keen to explore and build new relationships.
This year has seen a number of new exciting food and drink client projects come into the studio. So, I’m super keen to harness these and build from here.
