Calderdale Cancer Aware team wins national Community Impact Award

We are delighted to share that the Calderdale Cancer Aware team has won the Community Impact Award at the National Macmillan Conference held at Birmingham ICC.

Calderdale Cancer Aware is a collaboration between trusted local charity Halifax Opportunities Trust and Macmillan. Its mission is to normalise conversations about cancer within the diverse communities of Park ward, empowering residents to help prevent cancer and advocate for their health.

This national award is a proud moment for the team and a powerful recognition of the impact Calderdale Cancer Aware is making locally through awareness raising, community engagement and partnership working.

The conference gave the team the opportunity to learn, connect with others and share more about the work taking place in Calderdale. It was also a chance to celebrate the progress being made through community-led approaches that help people feel more informed, supported and confident when it comes to their health.

A special mention goes to Ilyas, who spoke on a panel during the conference and represented the team brilliantly.

This achievement belongs to everyone who has supported Calderdale Cancer Aware’s journey so far — including staff, residents, supporters and partner organisations. Their shared commitment has helped create a programme that is opening up important conversations and making a real difference in local communities.

We are incredibly proud of the team and all they have achieved. This award not only celebrates the work done so far, but also shines a light on the importance of continuing to raise awareness, break down barriers and empower people to take positive action for their health.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this well-deserved success.
